As Arden Road begins another exciting year, we must all remember about the safety of our children and others. Many school kids will be walking, riding bikes and catching the Canyon school buses to and from school each day.

Every year children are hurt and killed due to the negligence of motorist in the school zones around school buses. Motorists need to pay close attention to school zones and keep their speed limit to 20 mph during morning and dismissal hours. Children will be children, so pay special attention to the school buses loading and unloading in the Arden Road Bus lane and students using the crosswalks on Bell Street, Learning Tree, Progress Street and Arden Road.

During loading and unloading, motorist going both directions should not pass a school bus when the lights are flashing. Make sure the roadway is clear of all children before proceeding on your way. If everyone would remember “Yellow Means Caution,” we should all have a safe and wonderful school year.

Children may be dropped off no earlier than 7:25 am each morning. Children being dropped off between 7:25 and 7:55 should use the Northwest and Southwest doors only and report to the cafeteria until dismissed to their classrooms. These doors will be locked for security reasons at 8:00 a.m., after that time all parents and students should use the main entrance only.

Beginning at 3:00 Kindergarten will be dismissed through Northeast doors. Grades 1 through 4 will also dismiss at 3:05. First grade is dismissed through the main entrance and Second grade through the Northwest doors. Third grade is dismissed through the Southwest doors and Fourth grade through the South center doors. All children should be picked up at their designated locations unless previous arrangements have been made.
